The annual Kindness for Kids in Care Toy Drive 2025 is underway, and the community response has already been huge. With thousands of gifts flowing in, staff members from Sparky Direct are working flat out to make sure children in care across the region wake up to something special this Christmas.
Inside Sparky Direct’s warehouse, Sparky Direct’s staff are busily wrapping donated gifts, preparing them for Christmas Day deliveries. Collection points across the region have been steadily filling, including a strong turnout at Morayfield Shopping Centre.
Prue Aranovitch (co-founder of Sparky Direct) says the numbers tell the story: more than 3,000 toys have already been donated, with contributions coming from multiple collection sites. Every toy represents a moment of joy for a child who might otherwise miss out.

Queensland's longest-running toy drive
Now in its 14th year, Kindness for Kids in Care is the longest-running Toy Drive in Queensland. What makes it especially meaningful is that children write their own wish lists.
That personal touch matters. When a child asks for something specific, a Barbie, a truck, or a favourite game, the aim is to make that wish come true in a big way. For many of these kids, it’s a rare moment where they ask for something at Christmas and receive exactly what they hoped for, without knowing who made it happen. “There’s real magic in that”, said Mark Ryan (MP),State Member for Morayfield.
Growing need, growing support
The need for donated gifts continues to rise each year. Over the last two months alone, more than 50 children have been taken into care or transferred into care in the Morayfield and Caboolture areas.
Organisers describe gifts as that extra thing that can be hardest for struggling families and carers to provide. Community support helps bridge that gap, giving kids something to look forward to and a reminder that people care.
sparky direct is proud to lend a hand
At Sparky Direct, supporting Kindness for Kids in Care has become a meaningful yearly tradition. Prue Aranovitch, co-founder of Sparky Direct, has been a passionate supporter of the Toy Drive, and the whole Sparky Direct team always helps to make the annual toy drive a success.
Year after year, the Sparky Direct crew rolls up their sleeves to lend a hand, whether that’s donating gifts, helping coordinate contributions, or supporting the wrapping and distribution effort. It’s a simple thing with a massive impact, and the team is proud to be part of such a strong local initiative.
how to get involved
The toy drive is all about putting smiles on kids’ faces on Christmas Day. The public can donate new, unwrapped gifts right up until Christmas Eve at various collection points across the region. For more information on how to get involved or where the collection points are, please reach out to the Kindness for Care Facebook page, which can be found here:

If you’ve been thinking about contributing, now’s the time. A single gift can mean the world to a child in care, and together, our community can make sure every kid feels seen, valued, and cared for this Christmas.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated or lent a hand for Kindness for Kids in Care. Your kindness will make Christmas brighter for children who genuinely need it.
With sincere gratitude, Prue & Andrew Aranovitch and the team at Sparky Direct.
